iLASIK SURGERY IN SEATTLE

Are you tired of having blurry vision? Did you know that laser vision correction can help? LASIK is one of the most popular vision correction procedures, because it can correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism safely and rapidly. LASIK can correct these vision problems with minimal disruption to your work schedule during a simple, painless office visit. Here at CLEARVIEW Eye & Laser, we have the most advanced procedure available: iLASIK surgery!

WHAT IS iLASIK SURGERY?

iLASIK surgery is vision correction using a wavefront analyzer to enable our LASIK eye surgeon to customize the LASIK procedure to your individual eyes. This customized procedure can result in patients seeing clearer and sharper than ever before! Unlike conventional LASIK, iLASIK helps to treat “higher order” aberrations, which are tiny imperfections in the eye that can have a significant impact on one’s quality of vision. In fact, higher order aberrations have been linked to visual glare and halos. These aberrations have not been previously treatable with contact lenses, eyeglasses or conventional LASIK. Although conventional LASIK is still a very good choice for many patients, most will prefer the higher level of customization that iLASIK can provide. Ultimately, your doctor will discuss your options. Although many people are candidates, LASIK surgery is not for everyone. You should discuss your health and lifestyle considerations with your LASIK eye surgeon during your LASIK consultation.

ARE YOU A CANDIDATE?

The majority of people who meet the age and general health requirements are good candidates for the iLASIK surgery procedure. There are some conditions that exclude certain patients. Your eye doctor will examine you carefully to determine whether you can safely have the procedure. If you meet these criteria, you can schedule a consultation:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are in good general health
  • You have had a stable vision prescription for at least one year
  • You have no existing corneal disease

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

There are risks with laser eye surgery. However, the chance of having a vision reducing complication is minimal as documented in a number of clinical studies. Remember, millions of people have had excellent results from LASIK. Some potential complications include dry eye, making the surgical flap, night glare, under or over-correction and loss of best-corrected vision.

We will discuss these and other risks of laser eye surgery with you prior to the procedure. Proper pre-operative screening ensures that we proceed only when it is medically advisable. Also, diligent post-operative care helps to identify and address any potential healing complications.

When your vision and eye health matter, discover great care from a board-certified ophthalmologist at CLEARVIEW Eye & Laser. Call 206.431.9600 in Burien or 206.937.9600 in Seattle. We also welcome patients from Kent, Renton, Vashon Island and surrounding areas.
